This alpine chalet, located in the place called La Capieu, has been occupied for centuries by our ancestors, all of them farmers. Generation after generation, they would come to live there in the summer with about ten cows, a dozen goats, and a few pigs.<\/p>\n

Starting from late May,<\/h2>\n

the entire family would move up the mountain with the animals, producing reblochon and chevrotin twice a day after each milking. The sale of these cheeses supported the livelihood of the entire family. No water, no electricity, no toilets in the house (that’s why they were called chalets).<\/p>\n

At the end of September,<\/h2>\n

driven by the lack of grass or sometimes even the snow, the family would “descend”, taking the animals adorned with large bells and closely shaved, down to the lower house to spend the winter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
